Expert Extraction for
Worrisome Wisdom Teeth

Experience Gentle Tooth Extraction

The average mouth is only large enough to accommodate 28 teeth, so when wisdom teeth develop between 17 and 25, they typically don’t align or erupt properly. Due to the position at the back of your mouth, impacted wisdom teeth are often prone to infection and cavities. Because this area is difficult to clean, bacteria can build up and lead to gum disease, while a fluid-filled cyst can weaken the jaw bone, albeit far less frequently. Last, pressure from erupting wisdom teeth may move other teeth and disrupt your natural bite alignment.

We have advanced training and skills to manage complex tooth extractions and offer several types of sedation, including general anesthesia, to make extraction more pleasant. Thanks to our dentists’ vast expertise, Elite Dental is a trusted practice for tooth extraction in San Antonio, TX, Pleasanton, TX, and New Braunfels, TX. Wisdom Tooth Extraction

First, your gums are numbed with a local anesthetic, and then we administer sedation of your choice. The impacted wisdom teeth are exposed by making a small incision in your gum tissue, then carefully loosen and lift the tooth from the socket. Sometimes, an impacted wisdom tooth is easier to extract in multiple pieces. After the wisdom tooth is removed, the area is cleaned, your gum tissue is sutured, and you’ll bite down on gauze to control bleeding.

Healing

We’ll provide detailed instructions on caring for your extraction site, including tips for keeping the area clean and handling any bleeding. Avoiding hard and chewy foods, not smoking, taking pain medication as prescribed, and using an antibacterial mouthwash and a warm salt water rinse may help reduce swelling and promote healing. In addition, we recommend you get plenty of rest and avoid strenuous activity for a few days following wisdom tooth extraction in San Antonio, TX, Pleasanton, TX, and New Braunfels, TX.
